Designed for the more experienced cyclist, the 50km Ride offers a faster-paced challenge while keeping the distance manageable. It’s ideal for riders looking to push themselves or for seasoned cyclists after a shorter, speedier ride.

This year, riders will have the unique opportunity to share the road with cycling champion Danny Clark, making the experience even more memorable.

This ride is part of Sally’s Ride – The Tamar Valley Cycle Challenge, taking place on Sunday, 23 November 2025. By taking part, you’ll not only test your cycling skills but also help raise funds for local projects focused on improving mental health in the Tasmanian community.

Route

The ride begins at the Launceston Rugby Union Club (Home Point Parade), before heading north-west across the Paterson Street Bridge, with stunning views of Cataract Gorge and the Tamar River. From there, riders continue along the West Tamar Highway (A7) to Legana, before turning toward Bridgenorth (C732).

The route climbs past the Bridgenorth Football Club, then takes a rural tour through Long Plains Road (C730), bypassing Bridgenorth and Glengarry. Riders rejoin the West Tamar Highway at Exeter, then turn onto Rosevears Drive (C733) for a picturesque stretch along the river.

A refreshment and toilet stop is available at Rosevears Recreation Ground, kindly supported by our sponsor TasGas. After a short break, the ride continues southward via Riverside, crossing the Paterson Street Bridge once more before returning to the finish at Royal Park.

This route offers a mix of climbing, rural scenery, and river views—rewarding riders with both a challenge and a scenic Tasmanian experience.
